It’s a long way from North Devon to Scarborough, especially if you’re crammed into the back of a van like an illegal immigrant. We were heading North for the next stop on the UK pro surf tour and the forecast said waves.
Heading North
It was an early 6am start and we passed the time watching the Quicky Pro on the iPhone, abusing each other or watching old series 1 episodes of “the fresh prince of Bel-Air”. Read the rest of this entry »

Good grief, what a mid-summer weekend GoldCoast Oceanfest turned out to be. We had most types of weather over the 3 days but there were smiles all the way through.
Sun, sea, surf and music were billed and that’s just what we got along with a fair bit of mud and a slight breeze!

Massive thanks to Ian, Ornella, Gordon, Andy and Dan for their hard work over the weekend, same time next year?

When a smart gent about town is looking for a new suit he’s got a number of options: leg it to Burton’s or River Island, or maybe grab a bargain at Primark…but for real comfort, something that fits perfectly and is totally in tune with YOU, the smartest choice is getting a bespoke suit made by an artisan. Its a similar situation when it comes to surfboards, its easy to reach for an off the shelf solution, the bargain-basement mass produced machine shaped direct from the internet lump that arrives on your doorstep only a bit crumpled courtesy of a miserable van driver wearing a brown suit. However there is another path, and you don’t have to pay a Saville Row premium to get a one off creation tailored to the most exacting of demands. Read the rest of this entry »

“Sun, waves and burgers in the bay”
Croyde Surf Club held the first contest of the 2011 season in chunky conditions today. The kids got battered on the beach and the guys went all in at the point. Loads of paddling, rips, rocks and someone going left…..another classic for sure. Read the rest of this entry »

Poppy claims victory
The North Devon interclubs was hosted by Woolacombe Boardriders over the weekend. With Saunton Hotdoggers running their rescheduled 60′s Style Masters it turned into an old-fashion Croyde v Woolacombe face-off….without the fisticuffs off old.

Thought I’d have a go a something a bit different today. Much as I’d love a proper Tilt & Shift lens, the price is a bit prohibative £1400+! There’s a number of other bits of kit higher up the priority list. Read the rest of this entry »

“I’m sure it’s this way”
A little selection from the point the other day. With the beach looking heavy and evil most elected to go for the point, although “local celebrity” Charley Charlesworth paddled out and round to the beach saying “I’m gonna catch a bomb” . Read the rest of this entry »
